Jon Lockhart and Dr Brian D Haddock

Jon Lockhart and Dr Brian D Haddock; a new exhibition establishing networks and relations between artists and cities by means of 'show swapping'. The show swap is a way of creating opportunities for artists to show new work in more diverse arenas in a reciprocal manner. Without the necessity to meet funding criteria the show swap transaction retains an integrity to artistic autonomy, forming an essential component to artist-led activity and culture.

Jon Lockhart and Dr Brian D Haddock does not sit at odds with the Spectacle program by virtue of being a mere swap; there is an integral playfulness and humour inherent in the work characterising the Spectacle ethic. This is indicative of an ambition to a cross-pollination of networking whilst retaining all integrity to the artwork.

A potential cataclysmic energy is contained within Lockhart's recent work. Everyday functional objects are suspended in time, poised at the edge of an entropic event; an event that borders on collapse and total annihilation of the work. Fragile and elegant these new works embellish the true poetry of everyday things.

Temporal and geological time frames are interwoven in Haddock's new work. The very fabric of being and matter spewed from the internal hearts of stars are uncovered and laid bare. As if we have witnessed a cosmological crime scene, we stand at the edge of singular events, chance occurrences and chaotic explorations.
